The Lumina method

Two complete charts. One reading of what happens between you.

Lumina considers each person’s full birth chart and the connections between the two. It selects themes supported by the chart evidence, then explores them in clear language about relationships.

Each chart matters. So does the connection.

A birth chart contains many related positions. Lumina first considers each person separately, then examines what emerges when the charts are compared. One striking indicator never stands for the whole relationship.

First, each personThe individual patterns within each birth chart.

The calculation includes the Ascendant, Sun, Moon, visible planets, lunar nodes, twelve houses and their connections. Within the Jyotish framework, these offer ways to reflect on closeness, personal needs and sensitivity to another person’s response.

Then, the charts togetherWhere one person’s planets fall in the other’s chart, and how the two charts connect.

Lumina compares houses, traditional planetary aspects and close conjunctions. Each connection keeps its direction: the two people may experience the same contact differently.

How it works

From birth details to a personal reading

Calculation and interpretation happen in separate stages. Reproducible charts come first, followed by the selection of supported connections and the writing of your reading.

01

Accurate details

Date, exact time and city establish each person’s birth moment and location.

02

Two complete charts

The server calculates full sidereal D1 charts, including all twelve houses.

03

Meaningful connections

Independent supporting indicators carry more weight. Contradictory indications remain visible.

04

A clear reading

The selected evidence becomes personal portraits, relationship chapters, questions and practices.

Your relationship profile

Five areas offer a guide. Your charts shape the chapters.

Every full reading includes two personal portraits, your relationship’s central dynamic and a chapter on tension. Five scores offer a compact view; additional chapters appear where your own charts provide sufficient support.

Emotional safety

Vulnerability, responsiveness and finding your way back to closeness.

Communication and repair

Expressing a thought, hearing an intention and working through misunderstanding.

Affection and boundaries

Drawing closer while keeping room for yourselves and your differences.

Everyday reliability

Care in practical actions, agreements and the rhythm of shared life.

Shared direction and growth

The place of direction, meaning and individual growth in your relationship.

The overall score out of 100 brings these five areas together. It is an interpretive guide, not a measure of love or a prediction of your future.

From calculation to meaning

A reading you can follow

Lumina gathers the facts of both charts and assesses the support for each theme before building a connected account of your pairing.

Start with the evidence

Calculated positions and connections set the limits of each interpretation. A compelling sentence cannot replace support.

Choose what matters

A single indicator does not become a chapter. Themes supported by independent connections receive more attention.

Bring it into everyday language

People come first in the reading: how you approach closeness and where you might misunderstand each other. Chart details are available alongside it.

Precise calculations. Thoughtful interpretation.

The calculation behind the reading

What Lumina calculates

Accuracy here means reproducible astronomical coordinates within a specified chart system. It does not make relationship interpretation a scientific prediction.

Accurate birth detailsDate, time, city and the historical time zone.

Lumina uses the time zone in effect in that city on the birth date, including historical clock changes. If the local time occurred twice or did not exist, the system asks you to clarify it. An uncertain time is never silently replaced by a guess.

Swiss EphemerisAstronomical positions for the birth moment and location.

Swiss Ephemeris calculates the longitudes of the Ascendant, Sun, Moon, planets and lunar nodes. Identical inputs produce identical celestial coordinates.

The sidereal zodiacLahiri ayanamsha, also known as Chitrapaksha.

The sidereal system places sign boundaries differently from the tropical zodiac commonly used in Western astrology. Your sign in Lumina may therefore differ from the sign you know from your birthday.

The full D1 chartTwelve whole-sign houses, their rulers and the connections between charts.

Lumina uses the main D1 birth chart with whole-sign houses, traditional planetary aspects, directional overlays and close conjunctions. The calculation framework is the same for every couple.

Reproducible coordinates do not make an interpretation a prediction.

The method’s limits

A perspective to consider. The choices remain yours.

A chart cannot know your relationship’s history or replace lived experience. Test what the reading suggests against how you actually live, talk and treat each other.

What it can offer

A symbolic framework for exploring patterns in closeness, self-protection, cooperation and support.

What it cannot establish

Your actions, trust, fidelity, safety, shared history or either person’s choices.

How to use the reading

Keep what you recognize, question what you do not, and let useful distinctions open a conversation.

If your relationship involves fear, coercion or violence, prioritize your safety and trustworthy support. A chart cannot assess whether a relationship is safe.

Questions

Questions about the method

The calculation, the tradition and the limits of what a reading can tell you.

What is Jyotish?

Jyotish is the Indian astrological tradition, often called Vedic astrology. Lumina uses elements of that tradition within a contemporary relationship reading; it does not present its product as a single unchanged ancient method.

How is this different from matching zodiac signs?

One sign or planet captures a small part of a chart. Lumina considers each full birth chart before comparing the planets, houses and connections of both people.

Why is an exact birth time needed?

The Ascendant and houses depend on birth time. A small change can affect an important part of the chart, so Lumina does not substitute an approximate time and present it as exact.

Why is my Vedic sign different from my usual sign?

Western astrology commonly uses the tropical zodiac, aligned with the spring equinox. Jyotish uses a sidereal zodiac referenced to the stars. The offset between them can place a planet in a different sign.

What does the overall score out of 100 mean?

It summarizes the five relationship areas in the full reading. It does not measure love, rank couples as good or bad, or predict the future. The free preview has no score.

Why might another website give a different result?

Services may use different zodiacs, ayanamshas, house systems, time-zone handling or interpretation rules. Lumina names its calculation framework so the underlying coordinates can be reproduced.

Is this a scientific method?

Astrological interpretation is not a scientifically validated way to assess or predict relationships. The astronomical positions can be calculated precisely; their interpretation remains a traditional framework for reflection.

Can the reading tell us whether we should be together?

No. That decision depends on your actions, trust, safety, feelings and choices. Lumina offers observations and questions to consider together; it cannot decide your future.
